Anneliese Dodds, Shadow Chancellor and MP for Oxford East supports Anti-Racist City

“Thank you to everyone involved in today’s Oxford anti-racist city webinar. It is brilliant to see how people are working together to root out racism, discrimination and prejudice in our city and beyond. I am very sorry not to be able to join you today but hope that the event goes very well.

Above all, I hope it will produce plans for concrete action to counter racism in Oxford. We all know how deep racial inequalities and prejudice shape our city and our country. These have been thrown into stark relief by the current crisis, where not only are Black and Minority Ethnic people much more likely to die from COVID-19, they are also much more likely to be experiencing the negative economic consequences of the crisis as well.

We all know that there have been multiple reviews and recommendations made around racism at national level, but much less action taken. That has to end - the time for action is now”
